August 2005 London Phoenix at Bike Wales
London Phoenix members David Steele & Abigail Armstrong took part in the inaugural Bike Wales Cyclosportive event in Newport Wales on 17th August. In all around a 1000 riders took part in rides of various distances. The main Gold 160 Km ride took participants out to the Brecon Beacons and the awesome Tumble Climb to Blaenavon. The ride involved 2200 m of ascending and the quickest rider to completed in just under 5 hours.
David completed in 5 hrs 53 – 163rd place (out of 400)
Abi completed in 6 hrs 20 – 224th place.

We are a group of London-based cyclists, who get together for races and training rides. We have a website forum as our virtual clubhouse, and instead of regular weekly club rides from a set place we arrange to meet up for mountain bike, road or cyclocross rides, races and time trials from a variety of venues. We also meet up socially every month.
