Tom Silverlock from London Phoenix had a go at the North Road CC Hardriders 25m TT on 25th February 2007 and found out why it’s called “hard riders”. The course was hilly, wet and treacherous. Tom’s only just started riding time trials (with the exception of one he did nearly 30 years ago!) and this was by far the hardest he’s done yet. He’s still got a lot to learn, especially how to use gears properly up hills but is thoroughly enjoying the challenge and would recommend any one having a go at doing a TT.

London Phoenix MTBers have been out in force this winter competing in the ever popular Thetford Forest Marin Winter series – a three stage race series incorporating both 2 hour and 4 hour events around the world renowned Theford Forest singletrack trails. Strong finishes by Paul Troughton David Steele and Abigail Armstrong in each of their race categories in the first two rounds ensured they all ended up with high placings for the overall series points.

Paul came 5th overall in the master men’s two hour event series, David came 6th overal in the Vet 4 hour series while Abigail secured a well earned 2nd overall in the women’s overall series rankings earning lots of prizes and a trophy in the process. Dan Jenkins also raced all three events and came a credible 29th overall in the highly competitive men’s 2-hour event series.
