Winter weather proved little deterrent to London Phoenix mountain bikers who turned up in force for winter races. The focal point for the club was the ever popular Thetford Forest Marin Winter Series which saw in more than 8 riders racing each of the four rounds. Performances were outstanding this year with Paul Troughton storming away with the men’s 2 hour category series after winning two of the rounds. Abigail Armstrong gained another series podium spot for the club with 2nd place in the womens 4 hour category while Stuart Lockyear achieved a 5th place overall series ranking in the mens over 40s 2 lap event and David Steele 6th place overall in the mens over 40s 4 hour series.
London Phoenix presented our inaugural Easter Classic Reliability Ride on Easter Monday 24 March 2008 on a route into Essex on a great mix of fast roads and twisty lanes. We offered two distances – a long route of 114km and a shorter one of about 55km, both departed from Fairlop in Essex. Check out our photos of the event here.

We are a group of London-based cyclists, who get together for races and training rides. We have a website forum as our virtual clubhouse, and instead of regular weekly club rides from a set place we arrange to meet up for mountain bike, road or cyclocross rides, races and time trials from a variety of venues. We also meet up socially every month.
