Shouldn't take more than 11-12 hours in the summer. If you're reasonably fit, don't get lost too often and ride a mountain bike.

So a 7am start from Winchester is fine. Or starting a bit later from Peterborough and doing 80 miles makes a lot of sense.

from petersfield to eastbourne on a full suss heres the garmin link for a solo in 2012, up there with one of the best things i've done, Simon's the expert though - it's an annual ritual for him. although you might want to check the return trains if you go on a weekend ;)

120km, 2800m up 7hr 53, but i wasn't smashing it, having said that i was utterly spent by the end

Roadie head says 100miles, no problem. But when Guy (who's a lot fitter than I am) says 8:15 on MTB for 40km shorter I'm thinking "oh crap".

Anyone up for doing it over a weekend and just, you know, enjoying it?

10 hours 40 is my record for the full 100 miles. And I was fitter then.

I was thinking a weekend might be the answer to the CX question

I'm entered and have no intention of fixing up my MTB for this. So I'm in to play by these rules. If I have to walk / run sections so be it. Just like a CX race, it's how you get to the other end quickest, right?

Do I have to remind you once again that long grinding climbs are the province of the MTB race and have no place in CX ?

I know, I know.

Hmmm. Just noted the date. Buying Kraftwerk tixs for a show in The Netherlands the night before might cause a slight issue with my ability to do this

You could set off after the gig and ride to the start, no? Adrian would be proud of you.

Not sure Theo would view it quite so favourably.

Ar$e. I was getting really revved up to do this. Anyone want my place?

Nope.

But I would be up for riding it over a weekend in the summer with an overnight at a nice pub if anyone's up for that.

Remember people, it's off season now...
