Re: Volunteers REQUIRED: London League CX September 16
Only 3 weeks to go and so far we are only 3 people to build the course and 2 to marshall.
So, if you can spare some of your time, this would be greatly appreciated. There will be plenty of lovely cakes!

Cheers!

Re: Volunteers REQUIRED: London League CX September 16
Guys - we really need your help here.
Nobody has raced CX at Crystal Palace for donkeys years (I’d make up a number but Bruce or Neil would correct me). Formerly a venue for the world championships and long since forgotten it’s hard to overstate what a coup it is that Caroline and Max have pulled off here. There are greater plans afoot to bring international racing back to the Palace and they’re the first through the door despite a lot of press from other organisers. The success of this event will hugely help how the sport is perceived over there and improve the chances of being allowed build on this. Your club and the sport needs you!
For those not “into” the sport (weirdos) come along and see what all the fuss is about with the fastest growing branch of cycle sport. We’re on the cusp of something big here nationally with some of the younger riders - I’ve organised a few races for the club where a certain young Mr Tulett turned up and he’s now Junior Workd Champion... So please if you can spare some time on the 16th to help out it would be massively appreciated. You never know, you might even enjoy it.

Re: Volunteers REQUIRED: London League CX September 16
Thanks for motivating the masses, Chris, and thanks to everybody who has already signed up!
But we could really do with a few more! In particular we need more course builders in the morning. We’re currently 7, and having more would take a lot of stress out of that part of the operations (ideally everything should be up by 9am for people to recce and practice on the course).
And to follow on from what Chris has written below, this is quite a big occasion. There is a real sense of excitement about the venue among the racers and in the wider community and making this a success would be hugely beneficial for future events at Crystal Palace.
So if you are available, please sign up here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... edit#gid=0

Re: Volunteers REQUIRED: London League CX September 16
I just want to post to say I’m sorry I can’t help. I’m racing this weekend and no way will my wife tolerate time being allocated to cycling events two weekends in a row. Bit pathetic really but feel the need to explain my non-assistance in this endeavour.

Likewise, I’m really sorry I can’t help on this one. I’m off climbing Snowdon with my eldest that day.
I’m gutted as it’ll no doubt be a fantastic day of racing at a really historic venue.

ALDI gear.... No Idea!

Hi Andy,
Can we arrange collection of the "cycle events" signs this week, please?
Many thanks, Caroline

Hi Caroline,
Sure - I'm in all day (NW11), so today is good for me if you can collect? Otherwise, there'll be someone in the house from 1730 the rest of the week.
How may signs do you need? I will check how many I have got. If not enough, there are some with Paul Shipway in Finchley.

I've also got a black marker pen to colour in the missing "T" (it wears off over time/ with rain).

Andy, you wouldn't be in central London one day this week by any chance?

Re: Volunteers REQUIRED: London League CX September 16
The signs are about 5ft tall, so not easy to transport into central London without a car. It might be best if a North London route builder picks them up on the way to Crystal Palace on Sunday morning.

Chris, that would be great! Hayley and you are the only people coming to help set up on Sunday.Chris Clague wrote:Caroline - do you need them before Sunday? If not I can collect them.
