Round 7 at Hillingdon provided some of the best racing this season. The Eastern League and London & SE Leagues merged for a ‘Cross’ showdown.

Matt W was up with the lead guys from the start but the Corley Cycle riders were not hanging about and they managed to get some good distance between them and the chasers (Gary Record and Sylvain Garde, the latter got caught out by the obstacles). This gap remained all race as the finish beckoned with a dash for the line. Trying to lose the other two on the technical section just after the start, it seemed to be going well but a clipped pedal on one of the sharp left-hand turns allowed them back in. They attacked on the back straight and took one and two which left Matt a very impressive third and ahead of Sylvain in fourth – his main rival for the London ranking.

Strong performances also from Hetti – fourth in the Women and Chris D who got held up in the first lap carnage and managed two crashes of his own trying to make up the distance to the lead group finishing 17th overall.
A great turnout from LP all round in what is becoming quite a ‘Cross’ unit!
