Koksijde

Post by StevenDrew » Sun Nov 01, 2015 7:44 pm

Right, I'm having a mid season break and going to Koksijde for the World Cup race on 22 November. In fact, Theo and I are having a romantic weekend away  and taking in the Gent 6 on Friday and then Deerhunter in Brussels on Saturday. Sometimes the stars just align, eh?! 8)

Lemme know if anyone else is going and we can meet in the beer tent to do the conga along to some sh1t Eurodisco.

Ha ha, you couldn't keep away.

I would go, but I'm in Belgium the following weekend and it would be nice to actually spend a weekend at home.

To be honest, I'd rather have gone to the Koppenberg yesterday. But this is a decent substitute and I actually gain domestic credits for this trip which is clearly very handy!

All four of us will be there, on a day-trip. I'm sure Caroline will love to do the conga, it's still big where she is from.

We've bailed. Last night at the Gent 6 was as good as it's been. We had tixs for the Middenplein (i.e. the bit in the middle of the track where the drunks go) which was a first and very entertaining. Hanging out out with the Gijs Van Hoeke fan club was pretty funny.

But pt 2 of our Great Belgian weekend failed when they imposed the lockdown on Brussels. So the Deerhunter gig was called off and we were advised to cancel the hotel booking. With nowhere to stay at anywhere like a sane price we decided to head back to London and thus we'll miss Koksijde. Bit disappointed really but I guess being safe is most important. Did think about heading back to Southwold in the morning to race but 600km in the car is enough for one weekend and I've started on the chocolate jenever so I doubt I'll be up early.

Ha when Connie said you had texted to say well done on Southwold result as we were driving home thought you were taking secretary's role worryingly seriously if we're checking on Eastern region pensioners race results from Koksijde

I would've been taking just as much interest in your efforts if I'd been stood on the dunes of Koksijde rather than loafing on the sofa with Koksijde on the interweb and Ghent on the TV
