All set for Brighton and already looks like a tyre change will be needed . Xfire has the magic chicanes but plan to run Xride as spare with a Fango on rear and file tread on front may need amending so that has Fangos front and back in case is wet .

Like the course but hate the trip back which will be awful on last day of holidays specially with new late start for old gits as London league embrace Eastern format but put us and women after V40

Not a great day . Organisation better than last year but still some waiting around on start line . Didn't hear whistle had rubbish start and first couple of laps just working way back up field when chain snapped fortunately near pits but lost 4 places which had to recover , not going well up the hill though making up lots of time on flat grass . C seemed to do ok in women's race which strangely was only started when we were nearly up to them . Now stationary on M25 which is worst bit about London League.

Quite a nice day yesterday for Round 1 at Stanmer Park. The new format means women now race with Vet50 only, so it was a much smaller field than usual. Vet40 raced before us. Max finished 16th. I came 3rd overall. Don't know yet where Dan finished.

Turned out was 6th in the end and ok with that given Dougie Fox was 4th and would have been 5th without the chain snapping . C 9th or 10th in women's race which was positive

My first V50 CX race. I like the course, the slog up the hill, and then the windy single track back down the hill, and some fast swoopy bits on the grass at the bottom. I felt the benefit of a proper warm up which helped me to hold my position in the pack, behind/with the gridded riders, I managed to get up to the first bottle necks with the fast group and did not lose much time stuck behind people waiting to get through. I managed 14/42, 46:11, 3’56” gap, which I am happy with.

Congratulations Caroline! Superb! Good course that, but less muddy than last year I imagine?

Thanks! Yes, not the usual Sumners Pond, no mud at all. I didn't even have to clean my bike after the race! But the ladies' field was pretty scarce and there wasn't much competition apart from Clare from 5th floor. Not sure where everyone is gone. That said, I'm quite happy with my time. Still faster than my son!

We haven't see you for a while Dan. Are you doing the Central or Eastern league?

Caroline - great going! That's fantastic. Long may your winning continue. As Jules gets faster so will you if you're using him as your benchmark.
