Tour Of The Cornfields Sunday 4th Sep 2016

Post by BruceMackie » Sat Aug 13, 2016 6:36 pm

1st event on the Eastern League calendar is the traditional season opener, Tour Of The Cornfields. No points for this but 60 miles of mixed surface to test your legs in an event that was named as one of the top 10 sportifs in the UK along with the Fred Whitton, Ride London and Tour of Wessex. This time we've managed to get a clear weekend with no other Eastern races so it's regained it's original status. Organised this year by Beastway and Lee Valley Youth, proceeds are again going to the Eastern Region Cycle Cross Youth Development fund. It's returning to the same venue, The National Trust's Wimpole Hall but with some new sectors which, having sneaked a few rides on them, are superb. The balance of tarmac to off road has firmly swung to the latter with the inclusion of a lot of gravel sectors, so less field edge bumpiness, though enough to earn it's Cornfields moniker. Entry via BC at https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/event ... Cornfields

Incidentally Wimpole hall has plenty of other family entertainment available so could be one for the whole family. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/wimpole-estate

Sorry when I did the original illustration I didn't have the new Phoenix kit so it's the old kit on the poster.

Planning to be there, hanging on to the back of a group, as in the poster.
