We missed you last week, Stan. I thought you were coming to MK. What happened?

New course today for the Central League at Swanbourne School, somewhere in Bucks. Quite why a public school has a bumpy farmer's field covered in cow shit is anyone's guess but I enjoyed it and the catering was possibly the best of the season so far.

Neil did V50 and I did V40. We both finished 9th. Massive entries as seems to be the case every week in the CXL with about 115 starting our race and 90 in the V50. Absolutely nuts. Good fun.

London League for me, but as the course at the exact same location a month ago was so anaemic I didn’t even bother taking a bike and just helped out with timing & registration.

I was so, so wrong. Last time there I had a chat with Max R about how they could have done something really good with the venue but didn’t. Then I saw the course map and it was pretty much identical so didn’t even bother. Riding round a flat grassy field is not for me.

But someone from the organising club had other ideas. This one was glorious - gone was the long draggy hill, now a fast slippy descent. The long flat yawn of the three tiered bank was replaced with huge off-camber bits and short massively sharp climbs that probably 70% had a go at and 10% succeeded. And ultra steep descents that favoured the brave and rewarded the crazies who just slid down on their arses holding their bikes aloft. Throw in a bit of rain the night before and I was left ruing my choice. Chapeau to the organisers. And to Caroline who won again but was rather nonchalant about the lack of competition on the day. We desperately need more women racing. There is a lot of fun to be had out there.

Yeah sorry. Well, Jnr had a Herts county gala lucky he went as he posted a 38s PB 50m crawl and won a Silver. But I got told off, having to stick to a dedicated program of feeling sick on the Turbo rather than racing.

When’s he next one? I might have to do an “off the radar” race, I could do with a bit of fun in my life...

Regional Champs at Welwyn on Sunday?

Or Hillingdon the week after.

Try Sunday 9 December, London League race at Frylands (near Addington). Should be a good corse for mountain bikers, lots of climbing.

Sigh.

I have an FTP test scenario on the 2nd, and a 4hr Gorrick race on the 9th. What's going on after that? I'm told I can do "extra load" after the 9th to allow for having Christmas & Boxing Day off

I know I know, what did I let myself in for... :|

Ipswich on 16th?

You could probably look these up yourself though - I feel like we’re just doing this to keep you amused..

Ha no - I am taking it seriously and thanks.

I'm not sure where to find them other than BC, the reason I'm asking here if it isn't obvious is that I'd like to have some LP camaraderie, or piss talking, or both. Its a bit lonely in MTB world...

6th January - Hog Hill. Pretty local for you, and I’m chief comm. I have a megaphone with which to apply this “camaraderie” of which you speak

Also, as it’s not an LP fixture I’d encourage any one else to enter too. Like Tam.

I had scheduled to do an FTP test and wash my hair that day...
But seeing as it’s Panto season, I actually might!

Well if Tams going it, I'm doing it too.

I may have to withdraw at short notice ( fnar fnar) however, as its Jnr's birthday although he may ride too if there's a kids race.

Nope but you can borrow the megaphone and offer trackside sage words of advice.

But do it, both of you. It’ll hurt like hell but you will have fun.
