ROC Scramble - November 2021

Post by Steve Hanks » Mon Sep 27, 2021 5:43 pm

As per WhatsApp there's seems to be some interest in entering this event with the club:

https://www.runorcycleevents.com/roc-scramble-2021

You can enter 3hrs or 6hrs as solo, pairs or teams. The initial suggestion was to enter a 6hr 'Phoenix team the level of seriousness is up to you. The course is about 5km long and not very technical although could be slippy in November. It is Sandy though so should drain well. Entry's by 31st October

Lets gets some names down and decide which events we want to do, so first please register your name & desired category:

1. Steve H, 6hr Solo/Pair/Team

Ok so this is good for 2 x teams of three so far and enough for me to ask for a club discount. Keep the interest rolling in.

Eran, don't worry because:
First Aid services are on-site throughout the event...
Trust me I've ridden it before and its not technical at all, you could ride it one handed on a cross bike eating a pizza. The hardest thing will be down and up the dip shown in the vintage motocross video.

7 Oren - part of a team please - no desire for a long Solo ride - I think this is about having a laugh. My electric car may struggle to get there! My wife ubnlikely to lend me her's if its very muddy given the last time I used it and the condition the car was in. Where is Flavio? We need him on this event.

So, I just wanted to push this to the top as a Last Call. We have 6 people, two teams of 3 so far which I'd intend to create each with mix of experience. Do we have any other takers?

I need to book this before the end of October so please shout out now if'd you like a go at this!

I am in and excited.

Is CX going to be acceptable, or should I borrow an MTB?

Ben, in the rules:

Cyclists must be 17+ years on the day of the event
(The cycling course is set-up for MTB but all off-road capable bikes are welcome except battery powered).

All, a bit of an issue; Each team entry is £120, meaning £40 each with two teams of three at £240. I have contacted the organisers asking for a Club discount but this is rather expensive unless we can get 2 more riders and have 2 teams of four.

Or, does anyone want to race as a Pair, which would be £25 each for the Pair, leaving £30 each for the team of four?

Happy to race in a pair (probably my preference) or team of four. Two teams of three seems wasteful.

From my side I’m ok with the price. I’ll align with the team if we change to pairs (tho’ reminding that I’m far from an MTB expert)

Thanks for organising this Stan
