Despite the freezing conditions London Phoenix have been out in force and racing hard at the circuits at Hillingdon and Hog Hill every weekend in December, and over Xmas and the New Year. We’ve consistently been in the points and on the podium, with Nathan Smith currently placed third overall in the Imperial Winter Series, and with Andrew Angwin trailing him by a whisker (bravo guys!).

There’s also been real drama, with a couple of major crashes at Hillingdon that two of our riders have been unfortunate enough to get caught up in: David Murrell was taken down in full flight while sprinting for the line in early December; Sean Cody was involved in a high-speed smash in the first race of the New Year. Lucky both escaped with minor wounds, though Sean’s bike may not have been so lucky…(sorry Sean!).

We’ve also had a whole host of new riders race for the first time, with Steve Bell taking a really well-deserved 3rd place in his first race, and Timothy Cowen just missing out on the podium but getting a great 4th place at Hog Hill despite a mechanical during the middle of the race.

The others who have raced have all done great too, and there’s little doubt that all our 4th Cat riders will get their 3rd Cat licences by the time spring comes round, and we’re let out to race on  the roads again!
