A great day out for the Phoenix thanks to the efforts of Richard, Rob, Ben and Andrew. A quick early reci of the course was a smart move which would pay dividends later. A bit of rain just before the start made the going a little greasy which made corners interesting but the group were tight throughout and communicated well, with what they thought was a sensible pace on the first lap – averaging 41.5kph actually made it faster than the overall time.

With the course drying out and Rob taking longer turns on the front to keep the pace high in the headwind sections, unfortunately Andrew flatted half way round the second lap. The final few km got more and more frantic until the ultimate downhill section and then one last dig up the final climb saw all three cross the line together in a fantastic time of 1:20:02 over 55km – an average of 41.2kph.

6th out of 17 male teams just 10 seconds off Wyndymilla and beating the Addiscome A team by 31 seconds was a great day out for sure with some BC points too!

Winning time was 1:13.20 by Corley cycles with London Dynamo B 2nd 1:14.48 and London Dynamo A 3rd with 1:16:49 – TT bikes all round essential to achieve these kind of times.

Let’s hope for more events like these next year and we can go even better.
